Greenleaf titled The Servant as Leader, and published in 1970.   In the essay Mr. Greenleaf explains, “The servant-leader is servant first… It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve, to serve first. Senior Living at Its Best in New Mexico

MorningStar Senior Living has three communities in New Mexico that include MorningStar of Albuquerque, MorningStar of Rio Rancho and MorningStar of Santa Fe.  All three communities offer exceptional assisted living as well as compassionate memory care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementia-related diseases.  Presently all of our communities are recruiting individuals with a felt calling to serve seniors.

Some of our positions are very hands-on and have team members working directly with our residents.  Roles such as care managers and medication care managers see to it that residents’ personal daily living needs are met and that they receive their medications in a timely, safe fashion.  

As a MorningStar cook, you will enjoy preparing seasonal menus that feature the freshest ingredients from the highest quality producers, often homegrown and locally sourced (sometimes from our own resident gardens) in a calm and supportive environment.  You will also be encouraged to be creative as well as have a chance to interact with your “patrons,” and no doubt, receive their appreciation.

The MorningStar Story

This summer MorningStar Senior Living will proudly celebrate our 17-year anniversary. Our company was founded by Ken Jaeger who still serves as the CEO.  After many years in the senior living industry, Ken began MorningStar out of a desire to establish his own brand of senior living.  He explains, “It was 2003. I had a dream to start a senior housing company that was defined by the human touch. I wanted to re-create my grandmother’s house, a place where one can go and feel a sense of family.”

In Ken’s quest for a name for his company, MorningStar leapt out at Ken from a verse in the Bible, where Jesus said, “I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”  Sharing the name with his wife, she mentioned she had read a verse talking about Jesus as the Morning Star in 2Peter earlier that day (“…you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts”).  When Ken came across another reference to “MorningStar” as the name of a woman in an article about abject poverty on an Indian Reservation, it confirmed the name for a company that would serve seniors as well as relieve poverty around the world.
