This summer MorningStar Senior Living proudly celebrated our 19-year anniversary. Our company was founded by Ken Jaeger who still serves as the CEO.  After many years in the senior living industry, Ken began MorningStar out of a desire to establish his own brand of senior living.  He explains, “It was 2003. I had a dream to start a senior housing company that was defined by the human touch. I wanted to recreate my grandmother’s house, a place where one can go and feel a sense of family.”

In Ken’s quest for a name for his company, MorningStar leapt out at Ken from a verse in the Bible, where Jesus said, “I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”  Sharing the name with his wife, she mentioned she had read a verse talking about Jesus as the Morning Star in 2 Peter earlier that day (“…you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts”).  When Ken came across another reference to “MorningStar '' as the name of a woman in an article about abject poverty on an Indian Reservation, it confirmed the name for a company that would serve seniors as well as relieve poverty around the world.  

Since our beginning in 2003, MorningStar Senior Living has grown across the Western U.S. as have our New Mexico communities.  They now include Morningstar of Albuquerque, MorningStar of Rio Rancho, and MorningStar of Santa Fe. Several of the MorningStar Senior Living communities are recruiting compassionate individuals to fill a variety of roles within our beautiful homes.  Presently we have assisted living job openings in Beaverton and Happy Valley, OR; Sparks, NV; Billings, MT, and West Des Moines, Iowa.

If you are new to the idea of working in senior living, you should know we need people with a wide range of skill sets and education.  For example, some of our open positions include Dining Room Supervisor, Server, and Cook.  We also seek individuals for more hands-on roles as Caregiver to assist residents with their day-to-day personal care.  Other opportunities include Medication Care Manager, Assisted Living Coordinator, and Sales and Marketing Director.
