Assisted Living Jobs Need a “Human Touch”

Tiffany Field, director of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine, explains close human contact may have a more immediate impact than words do when it comes to connecting with others.  She says it can “lead to a chain of bioelectric and chemical changes that basically relaxes the nervous system.” For those of us lucky enough to work in assisted living, we recognize the benefit of human connections and relationships and realize we are part of something “bigger.”
