Our Communities Value All Seniors as Gifted and Contributing Individuals

The MorningStar Senior Living Company was founded by Ken Jaeger in 2003, and he still serves as CEO.  His impetus to start the company came after working in the senior living industry for many years.  Ken was determined to create senior housing that felt like his grandmother’s home – a place where its residents would feel a sense of family; and his brand of senior living would be defined by the human touch.    

Even the MorningStar name was deliberate.  In Mr. Jaeger’s search for the perfect name, he ran across a verse in the Bible in which Jesus said, “I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”   When he shared the name with his wife, she told him she had read a verse in 2Peter earlier that day that said…“you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the Morning Star rises in your hearts”   To clinch the name for a company that would not only serve seniors but work to relieve poverty around the world, Ken then ran across an article about a woman named "MorningStar” who was living in abject poverty on an Indian Reservation.  

Since the beginning, our growth has been quick and we now have communities spread across the Western U.S.  We attribute this success to God’s grace and to staying true to a mission of servant-leadership. Our many locations include homes in Colorado Springs, Boulder and Fort Collins, which are currently seeking individuals with a felt calling to serve to fill a variety of openings.
